What is a scholarship?
Student scholarships and fellowships are types of financial aid created to help students afford higher education. Scholarships and fellowships are awarded to students who meet certain qualifications. Because they are awarded, they never have to be repaid like a student loan. Common qualifications require that students be highly skilled in a particular field, but they can also include students in financial need, minority groups, or people living in certain areas.
